Hey Navigators 🧭
Big update last week.
The new Skool Discovery Search is now live.
And according to Sam and Kirby…
it’s night and day better.
This matters because search is already the biggest driver inside the Skool Network.
So if your group can be found better,
you have a better chance of getting more members.
✅ NEW FEATURE (LIVE NOW): Discovery Search
Go to:
Now search is much smarter.
It can handle:
- typos
- people’s names
- group names
- better topic matching
- more relevant results
Example from the episode:
Search “meat ads”
and Skool understands you probably meant Meta ads.
But search just “meat”
and it understands you mean actual meat.
Small detail.
Big difference.
Search is also much better at finding specific people and communities.
Before, some searches were messy.
Now the results actually make sense.
Finally 😄
🔍 WHY THIS MATTERS
Skool Network already sends around 30% of new members to communities across the platform.
And of that Skool Network traffic:
- 70% comes from search
- 20% comes from user profiles
- 10% comes from discovery browsing
That means search is the big one.
And that was with the old search.
So now that search actually works better…
this could become a much stronger growth channel for community owners.
🧩 KEYWORDS NOW MATTER
Remember the new Discovery Keywords feature?
Now it actually factors into search.
Skool search looks at:
- your keywords
- your About Page
- your group description
So this is your reminder:
Go check your keywords.
You can add up to 11 keywords inside:
Settings → Discovery
Think like your future member:
What would they type to find your group?
Not fancy words.
Not “cool” words.
Search words.
That’s the game.
✅ NEW: DISCOVERY CHECKLIST
Skool also added a checklist to show why your group may not be listed in Discovery yet.
To show up, you need things like:
- cover image
- group description
- About Page
- at least one post
- at least three members who are not you
Makes sense.
Skool doesn’t want empty, half-built groups showing up in search.
So if your group says unlisted, now you’ll know exactly what’s missing.
🔔 NOTIFICATION IMPROVEMENTS
Skool also made notification settings easier for members and admins.
For members:
You now click Settings inside a group and can quickly adjust notifications or leave the group.
No more digging around through menus.
For admins:
Notification settings are now easier to find inside group settings too.
They also simplified the options into simple on/off toggles.
Less complexity.
Less notification overwhelm.
Good move.
Because when notifications become too much, people don’t “manage” them.
They just turn everything off.
And that hurts engagement.
🗺️ ROADMAP UPDATE
Discovery is still the main focus.
What’s next:
1️⃣ New Discovery Browse / Trending Algorithm
This should ship soon.
The goal is to make Discovery feel alive.
Instead of the same groups sitting there all the time,
you’ll see what’s trending, who’s launching, and where the action is.
That should make people visit Discovery more often.
More visits → more searches → more members flowing into communities.
2️⃣ Attribution Improvements
Traffic Sources will become more accurate.
Cleaner tracking.
Better source data.
Better understanding of where members really come from.
3️⃣ More Notification Improvements
They’ve improved a lot already, but more cleanup is coming.
4️⃣ Languages
They mentioned languages are coming soon too:
Spanish, German, French, Mandarin.
That’s big for international creators.
🏫 SKOOLS OF THE WEEK: PREMIUM EDITION
This week had two strong premium model examples.
🤖 1. Cleve Notes / AI Community
Public premium community.
Free to join.
Making around $30k/month in about 2 months.
Interesting setup:
lots of free content
public community
paid access for calls / VIP experiences
strong use of level unlocks
And because it’s public, Google and AI tools can potentially see and index the content too.
Very smart.
Traffic comes organically from Instagram and YouTube.
Same pattern again:
content → Skool link → About Page → community → upgrade.
🧠 2. Gut Brain Synchrony
Doctor-led community around gut health, sleep, anxiety, and chronic illness.
Around 9,300 members
Making about $19k/month
Main traffic source: Instagram.
Again:
content → link in bio → About Page → join → upgrade.
Simple.
Not easy.
But simple.
❤️ FIRST SKOOL WEDDING?
Apparently two hardcore Skoolers met through Skool and got married.
That’s pretty amazing.
Good reminder:
Behind all the dashboards, metrics, MRR, and features…
This is still about people.
Sometimes members find clients.
Sometimes friends.
Sometimes apparently a husband or wife 😄
🧭 Bottom Line
This is a very important update.
Discovery Search is not just a “nice feature.”
It’s part of Skool becoming a better growth engine.
And now your job is simple:
- update your keywords
- clean up your About Page
- make your group description clear
- make sure your group is listed
- build something worth finding
Because if Skool is going to send more people through search…
You want your community ready.
