🚀 SKOOL NEWS #53: Introducing Keywords for Discovery
Hey Navigators 🧭
A new Discovery feature is live right now:
🔥 Keywords.
This one looks simple on the surface.
But it matters a lot.
Because most Skool Network traffic already comes from search.
And if people can’t find your group when they search… you miss members.
✅ NEW FEATURE (LIVE NOW): Discovery Keywords
Go to:
Settings → Discovery
You can now add up to 11 keywords to help people find your community.
How it works:
  • type a keyword
  • hit enter or comma
  • add the next one
Simple.
Important note:
Set them now.
But they won’t affect search results until the new Discovery search goes live.
That should happen around early May.
So right now, this is preparation.
But smart preparation.
🔍 WHY THIS MATTERS
Skool said most Skool Network traffic comes from search.
Right now, Skool looks at things like:
  • your About Page
  • your group description
But maybe you didn’t include all your best search terms there.
This new feature lets you tell Skool more clearly:
“This is what my community is about.”
That means when search improves,
your group has a better shot of showing up for the right people.
🧠 HOW TO PICK YOUR KEYWORDS
This is the real part that matters.
Start with 2 simple questions:
1️⃣ What topics is your group actually about?
Not vaguely.
Not what sounds trendy.
What is it really about?
2️⃣ What would someone type to find it?
Put yourself in the searcher’s shoes.
What words would they use in Discovery?
That’s the test.
🧾 EXAMPLE FROM THE EPISODE
They used Grow With Evelyn as an example.
Her community is about things like:
  • Facebook ads
  • Meta ads
  • YouTube ads
  • memberships
  • low ticket
  • marketing
  • copywriting
  • digital marketing
And also her name, because some people will search for her directly.
That’s a good framework:
  • brand / name
  • main skill
  • alternate wording for the same skill
  • business model
  • broader category
That gives you a good mix.
⚠️ DON’T STUFF RANDOM KEYWORDS IN THERE
This was an important warning.
Just because a word is popular
doesn’t mean you should use it.
Example:
If your group has nothing to do with AI,
don’t add AI just because lots of people search it.
That does not help.
It can actually hurt.
Because then Skool may start indexing your group around the wrong thing.
And that means:
  • the right people may not find you
  • the wrong people still won’t care
  • your relevance gets weaker
So yes — choose carefully.
Relevant beats trendy.
🗺️ ROADMAP UPDATE
Skool said a lot of Discovery work is now in progress:
In progress:
  • new Discovery search
  • new Discovery algorithm
  • category overhaul
  • attribution improvements
Likely timing:
  • Keywords live now
  • New search around early May
  • New algorithm around May too
  • Category updates later, without disrupting current Skool Games
They also said attribution is improving:
  • better source accuracy
  • better affiliate tracking
  • simpler to understand
And after Discovery, they still want to keep improving:
  • notifications
  • languages
  • currencies
So Discovery is the main push right now,
but not the only one.
🏫 SKOOLS OF THE WEEK
This episode had a great mix of examples.
1️⃣ Blue Collar Biz Accelerator
  • Logan Syndle
Helping blue-collar business owners grow.
Reported revenue: $555,000/month
That number is wild.
And it’s another reminder that simple markets can get very big when the offer is strong.
2️⃣ Comedy Society
  • Andy Friedman
A community for aspiring comedians.
daily virtual open mics
feedback on stand-up clips
workshops with known comics
Around $7k/month
Most traffic from Facebook
Very different niche.
Same core model.
3️⃣ Exotic Veterinary Academy
  • Zoltan Szabo
Helping vets who work with exotic animals.
Reported revenue: $26k/month
Main traffic from Instagram
Super specific niche.
Very strong example.
4️⃣ Tuning and Reverse Engineering
  • Joshua Labour
Teaching people how to work with car ECU systems for performance gains.
Only 42 members
But around $11k/month
That’s the beauty of a deep niche:
  • fewer people needed
  • higher price possible
  • stronger positioning
Big lesson there.
🧭 WHAT THIS REALLY MEANS
My take:
Keywords are not the exciting part.
They are the setup part.
But setup matters.
Because the bigger story here is not just
“you can add 11 words.”
The bigger story is this:
Skool is building a much stronger Discovery engine.
And this keyword feature is one of the first practical moves in that direction.
So if you want more members from Skool Network,
this is worth doing properly.
Not later.
Now.
🧭 Quick question for you
If you had to choose just 3 keywords for your community today…
what would they be?
