myCaroline Book Club; our first read!
🥇 Our first myCaroline Book Club read is Sisterhood Heals by Dr Joy Harden Bradford! 🎉 A fitting first choice for our community, Sisterhood Heals explores the power of female friendship, particularly among Black women, and how our relationships with one another can become sources of support, healing, growth and belonging. It feels like the perfect place for us to begin. And the voting has also given us our next two reads: 🥈 Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson A compelling work of fiction spanning generations, family secrets, Caribbean heritage, identity, love and loss. 🥉 The Uncommon Enemy by Isha Johansen A powerful true story of leadership, courage, football, politics and one woman’s determination to challenge the status quo. This means we’ll be moving beautifully between non-fiction and fiction, giving us a wonderful mix of real-life experiences, storytelling and plenty to talk about. First up: Sisterhood Heals You’ll have approximately eight weeks to read the book, giving you plenty of time to enjoy it at your own pace. Source your copy in whichever way works for you. Buy it, borrow it, download it or listen to the audiobook. On Monday 2nd November 2026, we’ll come together online for our first myCaroline Book Club conversation, a chance to talk about what resonated, what challenged us, what surprised us and, of course, the things we may not all agree on. And if you’re a speedy reader, you already know what’s coming next. Feel free to move straight on to Black Cake whenever you’re ready. This is only the beginning. As our Book Club grows, we’ll also be inviting you to recommend the books you think should find their way onto the myCaroline reading list. So, find your copy, make yourself comfortable and get reading. First stop: Sisterhood Heals. We can’t wait to hear what you think. 📖 Check the calendar and save the date!!
