Welcome to my community, everybody. 👩🏻‍💻💁🏻‍♀️ I am a native speaker of Myanmar Sagar (Burmese) as well as experienced language teacher. I was born and raised in Mandalay, Myanmar. In 2023, I moved to Wellington, New Zealand to study my Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Victoria University of Wellington. Apparently, my background was in language learning and teaching- I learned English as second language and I studied language acquisition and learning theories during my degree. Encountering Myanmar communities in New Zealand, I found the fact that parents here want their children to speak Myanmar Sagar. They want to communicate with their children in their native language. However, they don’t know how to teach a language. That leads me to start planning Myanmar Sagar lessons. While planning lessons, I realised one thing that foreigners who date Burmese are also eager to learn Myanmar Sagar, however, there are no reliable and effective lessons available online. Therefore, my lessons will focus on two groups of people: 1) Children who want to learn Myanmar Sagar to communicate with their parents in Myanmar Sagar 2) Adult who want to learn Myanmar Sagar to communicate with their loved ones in Myanmar Sagar Keeping those two groups in mind, my lessons are focused on daily communication and connection building conversations.
