The Illusion of “I’ll Do It Later”
Brothers,
Modern psychology calls this temporal discounting.
We value comfort now more than benefit later.
Islam addressed this long ago.
Allah Subḥānahu wa Taʿālā says in meaning that man is in loss except those who believe and act. Loss here includes wasted time.
Procrastination is rarely laziness. It is emotional avoidance. You delay not because you cannot do the task, but because of how the task makes you feel.
Discipline begins when you act despite emotion, not after emotion disappears.
Mentorship exercise for today:
Pick one task you keep delaying and do just 10 minutes of it today. Stop after 10. Momentum is not required. Consistency is.
