As-salaam wa alaykum,
Welcome to Muslim Freethinkers. Our goal is to help the everyday Muslim become more educated and inquisitive by exploring both Islamic and non-Islamic literature.
Through this, we aim to develop three key qualities:
- Empathy
- Intelligence
- Critical thinking
With these, the everyday Muslim can truly become a freethinker.
Why does being a freethinker matter?
We live in a time where questionable information is constantly thrown at us. Much of it challenges our nafs and our understanding of the deen.
The reality is that many Muslims today are more educated in secular studies than in Islamic knowledge. This can weaken our connection and remembrance of Allah (SWT). We must therefore be both grounded and informed — able to distinguish right from wrong with clarity and confidence.
