Changing platforms
Good morning! Unfortunately, I'm going to be changing platforms, so this group will be deleted. I discovered that this is not the right place for what I want to do. Thank you for joining this and I hope to see you on other projects! You can always see what's going on at my website: annadair.com or on my Facebook profile. Thanks, again!

Here's a question from the people: Why 6/8 when 3/4 works. “Silent Night”
My take: 6/8 works because the motive fits perfectly in one measure with a strong and weak compound beat. Think about the implied metric emphasis. 3/4 would place too much emphasis on "night". 6/8 is much smoother. Why is "O, Holy Night" in 12/8? 3/4 would be simpler to read for young musicians, but 6/8 is not that much of a stretch to teach from this, especially since the melody is familiar. The graphic connections would be very clear. I'm interested in hearing your opinions!
Getting to know you!
Welcome! I'm your host and music BFF, Ann Adair. I'm a well-seasoned musician with a very broad range of experience and expertise. My goal here is to help you explore and gain a deeper understanding of what's going on inside music. The most important thing here is that I am excited about music theory and applying it to real life music making! Tell me why you're here and what you want to discuss or ask about. Welcome! https://annadair.com/about-me/
