Sales letter? would welcome thoughts
So - exploring different approaches to selling.
This is a letter I circulated to my mailing list this morning, about my upcoming performance.
I'd be interested in your thoughts. It was being circulated by and large to people with an interest in writing/jane austen/theatre. xx
Dear Friends,
I had planned to send you a very formal invitation to Tuesday's online performance of my adaptation of 'Pride & Prejudice' by Jane Austen, politely informing you that:
  • It will be aired online this coming Tuesday, 8 p.m. GMT/3 p.m. East Coast time.
  • Tix are £7, including a 48h replay.
  • Jane Austen's House is hosting.
But after seeing Shake-Scene Classics' rehearsal last night all I can say is . . .
You have GOT to see these guys bring Jane Austen's words to life!
You have GOT to see Iain Peacock's cringe-inducing Mr. Collins warn Lizzy that "It is by no means certain that another offer of marriage may ever be made you."
You have GOT to see Mr. Darcy's shock (Lane Paul Stewart) when Lizzy refuses him.
You have GOT to see Lydia (Isla McLeod) rush headlong to her doom with Ellie Zeegen's magnetic Mr. Wickham.
You have GOT to see Lizzy's showdown with Lady Catherine. (Halli Pattison v. Jenny Coverack).
You have GOT to see Eric Karoulla's Mr Bingley find the courage to propose to Larissa Oates's Jane Bennet.
And SO. MUCH. MORE!!!
I wish I could invite Jane Austen. And I'm delighted to be able to invite you.
Join us, this Tuesday, for a 50-minute romp through Jane Austen's best loved novel, followed by an audience Q&A. I would love to see you there.
Warmly,
Jo
Associate Playwright, Shakes-Scene Classics (that's the formal bit)
