I started writing religious themed poetry in the 5th grade while it was challenging for people to believe a 5th grader had written a poem contrasting the natural and spiritual world, thanks first to my 5th grade English teacher, followed by my 6th grade English teacher I kept writing. In my junior year of high school our teacher assigned the project of writing a Epithet for a tombstone, mine was the death of Death itself. My poetry writing as now grown into a form of devotional, and I am often most inspired by listening to worship music. What inspires you? Where are you in your faith journey? I pray this community can spark inspiration and bring people of different backgrounds together through art at a time when division and strife are plentiful.
