📅 Week 3 – Striking Setups: Round vs. Straight Shots
Last week we focused on using levels to move your opponent’s guard. This week, we’re shifting focus to attack angles — combining round shots (hooks, kicks) with straight shots (jabs, crosses) to manipulate your opponent’s defense.
🧠 Core Concept:
  • Straight shots narrow your opponent’s guard, opening up the sides.
  • Round shots widen the guard, creating lanes for straight attacks.
🎯 This principle works both on the feet and on the ground.
Example:
From mount — use wide hooks to open the center, then drop hard straights.
On the feet — go jab, hook; or body kick to rear straight once they start reacting.
📚 Your study this week:
  • Use straight shots to set up round ones
  • Use round attacks to open up straights
  • Mix your ranges and tools (elbows, kicks, punches) to break predictable rhythm
🛠️ Drill it. Play with it. Make your opponent chase your openings.
