Why Your Next Comic Should Be 4K Landscape
For decades, the comic book industry has been defined by the physical dimensions of a printed page. We think in vertical rectangles because that is how paper is cut and how shelves are built. Even as we moved into the digital age, the "vertical scroll" became the dominant format for webtoons and mobile reading. But as a creator looking toward the future of entertainment, I have started to ask a very important question: why are we still forcing our stories into vertical boxes when the world consumes media in landscape?
Right now, I am deep in the production of my latest project, Moving Target. This project is a departure from my traditional work because I am building it from the ground up in a 4K landscape format (specifically 2560x1440px). This shift is not just about changing the orientation of the canvas; it is about fundamentally rethinking how we script, draw, and distribute our stories to meet a modern audience where they live: on laptops, televisions, and video platforms.
