psilocybin mushrooms, lsd and weed are all great at unshackling one’s mind from thought loops and conventional, boxed-in thinking.
psilocybin and lsd especially have a very low risk profile if done responsibly with appropriate set and setting.
set refers to the mindstate of the individual (e.g happy, sad, anxious), and setting refers to the environment and people surrounding the individual partaking.
If one is in a good mood, and good place in life where they’re feeling satisfied and fulfilled, and in a comfortable environment (solo or around people that they’re completely comfortable around), then chances are a psychedelic trip will clear out some mental cobwebs, give fresh and valid insights, and enable one to look at the world, life and relationships with fresh eyes.
The caveat is this: if one is in a very bad, anxiety-ridden and overall ‘negative’ mindstate, it is very much Russian roulette. It could be amazing, but it could also make things worse — much worse.
Also, it should be stated that weed is by no means a completely safe substance for everyone to be using indiscriminately. Weed reveals a lot of your shadow self (look into Carl Jung for more info on the shadow), and this can be both good and bad depending on how one integrates this.
Unfortunately, some people have very poor integration skills, which is why weed can be destabilizing for a good amount of people.
