I saw something that reminded me. 👇
From the moment they were born our whole world shifted.
Everything became about them.
The schedules.
The meals.
The worrying.
The cheering.
The showing up.
But it was more than that.
So much more.
It was seeing the world through their eyes again.
The beach for the first time.
Their little feet hitting the sand.
Eyes wide.
Mouth open.
The mountains.
The fireworks lighting up their faces.
That moment they finally rode their bike
and looked back at you,
Did you see that?
I saw it.
I saw all of it.
And I would not trade a single moment.
But they grew.
One by one they left.
They started their own lives.
And they should.
That is exactly what we raised them to do.
But nobody really prepares you for the moment you close the door behind them and turn around and face the quiet.
And in that quiet a question surfaces.
One you haven't had time to ask in years.
Who am I now?
Not the mom on call.
Not the one holding everything together.
Not the one watching their face light up at the fireworks.
Just...
Me.
And honestly?
That question can feel terrifying.
Or it can feel like the beginning of something.
