Stop Missing The Point Of Life- How To Be Free Right Now
Stop Missing The Point Of Life- How To Be Free Right Now
I know that some of you might be in a similar position to me, so I'd like to share an insight I had yesterday.
I have been very focused lately, working 12 hour days on building myself and my business.
I found myself starting to get overwhelmed, with about 214786275 tabs open and no clue where to click.
I felt guilty every time I did something fun like going out with friends, or not working.
I wanted constantly to be progressing, seeing results towards my goal.
Making 10k per month is a "goal" but the real reason I am doing this is to help other people and become a leader.
You must become the person who can complete your goal.
But I have been missing the point of goals.
Goals are not what make life worth living.
Goals do not = success. They are merely indicators of success.
The real joy in life is to appreciate every moment as if it was your last.
Life is about the journey, not the end destination.
If you want to speedrun life, you're just running faster towards the end without enjoying the experience.
There's more to life than increasing its speed.
So, when I realised that I had been too focused on the goal, and not the journey, I laughed.
Why put your happiness into some far-out future?
Nobody has ever lived in the past, or the future. They aren't real.
The future becomes the present and the present drifts through our finger tips and belongs to the past.
All we EVER have is the present moment. This second right.... NOW. And... NOW. You get it.
Every second you spent reading this post is gone, and you better be glad you spent them here.
Because being more mindful and present during your life will not only make it longer, it will make it BETTER.
Every mouthful of food you eat, savour the taste. Enjoy every bite.
Every conversation you have, focus on the person and not what you are going to say or do after.
Every goal you have to achieve or obstacle you have to overcome, they are endless.
It isn't about the goal. There will always be more goals. Achieve 10k p/m, now the goal is 20k p/m.
If you ever ask anyone how much money they want to make, the answer is always "More".
If they are homeless, they want more. If they are rich, they want more.
If you ask Alex Hormozi how much money he'd like to have, I bet he'd probably answer "more".
So why feel like you aren't worthy or happy just because you haven't got to a goal yet?
Happiness is a feeling, you can have it right now.
Meditating and mindfulness is not a practice, it is a way of being, and the more you do it, the better you get.
Meditation is mainly about turning off your thought generator AKA brain and focusing on the present moment, instead of what is going on up "there".
So, when you're working hard on building yourself and your life, do not forget to take time for yourself, to slow down and just enjoy the present moment.
The present moment IS your life. Today is your entire life, there is no such thing as tomorrow.
Every life is just a collection of "today"s.
You need to slow down to speed up- life is all about balance.
Achieve your goals fast, but not so fast that you miss the point of being alive.
When you get to being 80 years old, you won't savour the big goals the most, it'll be the little things.
TL;DR: Stop rushing life- savour every present moment and enjoy the journey instead of focusing on the end goal.
"Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."
