Day 4 of Aromatherapy Awareness week....
Ah.....Immortelle, it has always been one of my favourite oils.
I'll never forget the night when my lovely client Ann turned up on my doorstep the day after her treatment in floods of tears. This was when I was living in Aberdeen. My immediate reaction when I saw her was something must have happened to her husband as he worked off shore, thankfully it wasn't that.
The night before, we'd had quite a deep energy massage session and one of the EO's was Immortelle.
"What have you done to me?" she wailed, "I haven't stopped crying since my treatment!" I was mortified, as you can imagine. In she came with her dogs, absolutely sodden as it was piddling it down. "I don't mind that I'm crying, it's one of those cries that makes you feel good, as though the weight of the world has been lifted off your shoulders. But all day???!!!"
I went upstairs to check her notes, and there it was..... Immortelle.
Immortelle can dig very deep emotionally to release any underlying stresses and at that time Ann had more than her fair share for a while.
You see, and I must emphasise, that it doesn't do this to everyone who uses Immortelle. In my 30 years I've had maybe a dozen people react this way, or with fits of unexplained giggles, which is a little rarer and diametrically the opposite emotional release to tears. It really does release the safety valve on the bottled-up stresses that we have stored just so that we can cope on a day-to-day basis.
Since my 'stormy night' with Ann, every time Immortelle comes out for clients, and I know we are dealing with underlying stress, I always warn clients they might have tears or fits of giggles and I teach my students to do the same with their clients.
