Why Friday Is My Secret Weapon (And Should Be Yours Too)
Let me share something that's completely changed how I approach my week...
I intentionally save my most dreaded tasks for Fridays.
I know, I know. That sounds backwards, right? Most people want to tackle their hardest stuff on Monday when they're "fresh" or get it out of the way mid-week.
But hear me out.
The Friday Effect Is Real
There's something magical about Fridays that we all feel but rarely leverage strategically.
Think about it:
  • You're in a better mood - the weekend is just hours away
  • Everyone else is in a better mood - that person you need to call? They're feeling it too
  • The energy is lighter - there's a collective exhale happening
  • People are more forgiving - that difficult conversation? It goes smoother on Friday
This positive energy is contagious and infectious. When you're relaxed and optimistic, the person on the other end of that dreaded phone call picks up on it. When you walk into that uncomfortable meeting with Friday energy, it changes the entire dynamic.
My Friday Philosophy....
Here's what I do:
I look at my week and identify the tasks that make me go "ugh, I really don't want to do that."
You know the ones:
  • That difficult phone call you've been avoiding
  • The uncomfortable conversation you need to have
  • The tedious administrative task that drains your soul
  • Following up on something that might get rejected
And I deliberately schedule them for Friday.
Why This Works.
1. Your mindset is better - You're not grinding through Monday stress or mid-week exhaustion. You've got that Friday lightness working for you.
2. The other person's guard is down - That difficult client? That person who usually pushes back? They're thinking about their weekend plans, not looking for a fight.
3. You end the week with wins - Instead of leaving tough stuff hanging over your weekend, you close loops. You go into Saturday feeling accomplished, not anxious.
4. The momentum carries - Knocking out dreaded tasks on Friday when you're in a good mood creates positive associations. These tasks become less scary over time.
The Ripple Effect.
When you bring Friday energy to a dreaded task, something interesting happens. Your positive mood affects the other person. Their response is better than expected. The task takes less time than you feared. And suddenly, that thing you've been avoiding for three weeks is... done.
And it wasn't even that bad.
Try This Next Friday.
Look at your task list right now. Find ONE thing you've been avoiding because it feels heavy or uncomfortable. Schedule it for Friday afternoon.
Then watch what happens.
I promise you, the combination of your Friday mindset plus the other person's Friday mindset creates an entirely different outcome than if you had tackled it on Monday.
Friday isn't just for coasting into the weekend. It's for conquering the things that have been weighing on you all week.

P.S. - This doesn't mean slack off Monday through Thursday. It means strategically using the natural energy boost of Friday to handle things that require better emotional energy.
