Did you know that praying together lessens your chance of divorce to .0126%?! That's less than a 1% chance just because you pray together! Why is this not a golden rule in every marriage?
Because it requires vulnerability. People don't want to "sound stupid" or be that vulnerable with their partner. They feel super self-conscious and when I hear this, I'm always floored. You'll fart in front of your partner, get completely naked, exchange bodily fluids but praying is what gets you? Our insecurities reveal where we need the most work in our lives. If we are embarrassed in an area, that's the area we know we need more intention and work around but aren't willing to put it in.
So for your prayer life, how much time are you spending learning how to pray more powerful prayers? How much time are you in the word every day? How much time are you focusing on repentance and making your relationship with God a discipline rather than an after-thought?
Does God get your best or your leftovers?
It's no surprise that this is a direct correlation to your marriage. Does your spouse get your best or your leftovers? How much time are you putting into learning how to be a better spouse, have a better marriage, or become a better version of yourself to bring to the marriage? Is your marriage a priority? Something you put daily time, energy, effort and intention into or an after-thought?
How often do you pray about a circumstance before taking it to your spouse or berating them about it because they didn't do what you wanted? How often do you pray before you panic or try to take things into your own hands?
If you're feeling convicted right now, even just a little bit, this message is for you. I'm telling you, the God you serve can change any circumstance, person, situation, or problem. But you have to ask. Matthew 18:20 says for where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them. He can change what's happening. When you ask together, your prayer is more powerful and He is right there beside you the whole way.
Pray for your spouse. Pray hedges of protection around them. Pray for their mind, their heart, their destiny, their circumstances, their purpose, their path, their immune system, to be a better spouse to them, their parenthood, their journey, their spousal abilities, their job, their hobbies, the people put in their lives, everything- DAILY.
