You can't become 'that' person if you haven't done the work to be that 'person'. I’ve gone down every identity and identity consciousness rabbit hole I can find. I keep coming back to the simplest truth: We are who we want to be. There is a version of you that ‘can’ do whatever you put your mind to. This means the ONLY thing that is stopping you is... you. What if, just for a moment today, you try this [hint I already know it works]: Imagine yourself accomplishing one small thing today that aligns with the version of you that you want. Example: You want to run a 5K. Your life is in shambles, so you keep putting off the training. But what if you didn’t run at all today, but you took a 15-minute meditative walk where you practiced the 5K in your mind? Then you return to work or life, and you measure a ‘win’ today. Example: You want to lose 20 lbs. You’re snacking and emotionally eating, or you're just not really paying attention to the diet. But what if you did one small thing today? Today, when you do the grocery shopping, you don’t buy those chips, cookies, etc. If you don’t buy it you can’t eat it. You leave the store, add up the money you saved, and now you know you can lose weight through the simple daily act of ‘not buying’ it. Measure the win. Example: You want to change your career. Your work has been draining your energy and your life from you. You want to become a ‘chef,’ but you're stuck working at Wal-Mart in the bakery. Today, you COULD go home and make a short video of how to make your favorite dish. You post it and title it, “Future Chef’s Favorite Meal”. - Measured win! Today: I measured a win by getting up and setting goals for the day. I measured my day by creating three tasks, and those tasks are aligned with my three-year goal. Each day, I get to measure a meaningful win by accomplishing that small task. 365 Days of small, meaningful goals- achieved over time- equal a WHOLE year of self-confidence and meaningful life moments. Now about that three-year version of you…
