Students, Etsy has just introduced these new AI policy updates, but didn’t I teach you all these things in our course even before this update? I taught you how to generate new ideas yourself, edit and modify designs using Adobe Illustrator, and convert designs into SVG files for Cricut. I also strictly advised you against copying designs, using copyrighted content, and creating entirely AI-generated crochet patterns. Instead, I taught you how to do these things manually, use your own creativity, and develop original designs. Now, look at the advantage you have today! Those who learned these skills are better prepared to adapt to Etsy’s changing policies. Meanwhile, people who relied entirely on AI-generated content, or were teaching others to create everything using AI, may now face serious challenges. Important Etsy Updates - ❌ AI-generated crochet patterns, recipes, and instructions: Not allowed when the functional content is generated by AI. - ❌ Fully bot-generated listings without human involvement: Prohibited. - ❌ Misleading AI product images: Not allowed. - ✅ AI-generated artwork: Still allowed with meaningful creative input and proper disclosure. - ✅ Manual editing and modification: Use your creativity to customize designs and make them original. - 📸 Product images: At least one unedited photo of the actual item is required, subject to certain exceptions. This is exactly why I never taught you to create entirely AI-generated crochet patterns. My focus has always been on teaching you practical skills, originality, and manual design techniques so you can build a sustainable Etsy business and adapt to policy changes with confidence.
