Let’s take a step back and gain some perspective. I recently read something in a book that made me rethink how we approach goals: Weekly goals are often more effective than daily checklists. You might be wondering, Why is that? Here’s the reason: Weekly goals allow you to see the bigger picture and track your progress over time.
Now, don’t get me wrong, daily checklists are important. They help with accountability and keeping you on track. But in addition to that, we need to zoom out and set clear, long-term directions.
Let’s imagine, it’s Sunday morning, and you’ve already planned out your goals for the entire week. You know exactly what needs to be done. Now, each day, you don’t have to figure out what to focus on. The plan is already set, and it’s time to get to work.
Now, imagine it’s Wednesday. You sit down to work, grab your tracker, and look at your daily journal. You review what you accomplished yesterday and ask yourself, Will I meet my weekly goal? Once you know where you stand, you can confidently move forward and tackle today’s tasks.
Setting weekly goals gives you the freedom to work with intention, knowing you’re steadily moving toward a bigger objective.
What system works better for you; daily tasks or weekly goals? 😊
