Hello everyone,
I’m currently facing a critical problem with Adobe Illustrator that’s affecting my design work. When I try to use any font in Illustrator, the actual font style doesn’t show; instead, only generic text appears. The fonts look all the same across different projects and documents, making it impossible to see or apply the correct typography.
Here are the key symptoms and what I’ve attempted so far:
• All fonts display as the same generic text instead of their unique styles.
• Installed fonts show as available in Creative Cloud and Windows fonts folder.
• No warnings of missing fonts when opening files.
• Tried resetting Illustrator preferences.
• Tried clearing cache folders (like the Creative Cloud “acc” folder inside Temp), but got errors saying the folder or files can’t be deleted because they’re open in another program. I checked and closed all Adobe apps and background processes.
• Restarted my computer to try freeing those locked cache files.
• Used Type > Find Font to check for font issues; most of them are showing generic instead of unique styles.
Despite all these, the font display issue persists and I’m stuck with generic text showing everywhere.
The cache deletion problem:
• Cache folders like “Creative Cloud” or “acc” inside the Temp directory won’t delete easily because some Adobe background processes lock them.
• Even after quitting all Adobe apps, the lock remains unless I fully restart Windows.
• I’ve tried deleting via Command Prompt but still face access issues unless in Safe Mode.
I’m requesting advice from anyone who has faced and resolved similar font rendering problems or cache deletion roadblocks in Adobe Illustrator. Any clean cache clearing method, unlocking folders, or other troubleshooting steps would be extremely useful.
