🚨 Major Upwork Update for Freelancers
Starting May 28, 2026, Upwork will officially remove Specialized Profiles.
For years, freelancers used specialized profiles to showcase different services (like Social Media Management, Graphic Design, Video Editing, etc.).
But that system is now going away.
Here’s what this means for freelancers:
📌 One Profile for Everything
Your main profile will now dynamically highlight your most relevant skills, portfolio, and work history depending on the client’s search.
📌 Nothing Important Will Be LostYour:
• Work history
• Reviews
• Earnings
• Portfolio items
will automatically remain in your main profile.
📌 But Some Things Will NOT Transfer
The following from your specialized profiles will NOT automatically move:
• Title
• Overview
• Skills
If you want to keep them, copy them to your main profile before May 28, 2026.
📌 Why Upwork Is Doing This
According to Upwork, their latest data shows that clients prefer seeing the full experience of a freelancer in one place, which improves hiring decisions.
So instead of maintaining multiple profiles, the system will automatically prioritize your most relevant experience for each client.
💡 My Advice for Freelancers
Use this update as an opportunity to:
• Optimize your main profile title
• Improve your profile description
• Add strong portfolio samples
• Update skills based on your niche
Your main profile will now be your entire brand on Upwork.
If you're freelancing seriously, profile optimization just became even more important.
