LEARN SMART FREELANCING
I just completed the video 1 of LEARN SMART FREELANCING. The video was very helpful. .
I have made notes and hope others can find them useful too:
LEARN SMART FREELANCING
VIDEO 1: What is Freelancing?
Freelancing is when you work from home with flexible hours.
Basic Principles of Freelancing
Now, let’s talk about the basic principles of freelancing:
1. Self-Discipline and Time Management
You have to manage your time properly so you don’t miss your deadlines. You should imagine yourself as a business owner instead of just a freelancer, so you can think of bigger goals instead of limiting yourself to just being a freelancer for your whole life.
2. Client Communication
If your client communication skills are not strong, you will make immense mistakes in your business. So you have to work on that.
3. Quality Work
You have to provide quality work whether it’s a small project or a big one. Don’t assume that if it’s a small project, you will not invest your time and energy in it. You have to invest the same time and energy in small projects as you do in bigger projects. So treat all your projects equally.
4. Consistency and Commitment
You have to be consistent and manage all your tasks on your own. You have to be properly committed. You cannot say that I am not committed today, or I will do it tomorrow, or after three to four days. Freelancing does not work that way.
5. Portfolio and Feedback
You have to build a portfolio and take client feedback as well, as it will help you gain new clients. Another very important thing is that you can also offer a free trial to clients. In this way, they will not feel the need to ask for a portfolio. They will be more satisfied if you offer them a free trial, for example, a one-minute video.
You also need client testimonials, so you can show them to other clients. This helps build trust and increases your chances of winning clients.
6. Networking and Relationship Building
This means you have to provide more value to the client and build a proper long-term relationship with them.
7. Negotiation Skills
These are very important. If you are good at negotiation, you can earn good revenue for your business.
8. Continuous Learning
You have to learn new skills and trends so you can stay updated. You cannot stay outdated and only rely on old freelancing methods. You have to keep yourself updated with new skills and trends so you can work like a pro in the current freelancing market.
9. Financial Management
It’s important for freelancers to manage income and expenses properly. It doesn’t work like you just earn and transfer money to your workers or people you outsource work to. You have to keep a proper record of what you are earning, what you are spending, and what profit you are making. This will help you track your monthly progress and manage your finances better.
10. Work-Life Balance
It can be difficult for freelancers, but you have to manage it so it does not affect your productivity or mental health in the long term. You can make a timetable like “I will do these tasks today and that’s it,” so you don’t overload yourself.
You should also give time to your physical and mental health. You can go to the gym, walk, or jog whatever you like but you must take care of your health so you can stay productive in your freelancing work.
Hope you find these notes useful. Will meet you in the next post!!! :)
