Hi, I’m Melissa - founder of Main Character Mode and Popcorn Potential. Originally from Canada, I moved to Japan in my 20s to teach English and explore the world. In 2000, I met an Australian gamer while living overseas, and after getting married in Italy, I relocated to Adelaide Australia in 2003 to begin a new life together.
For 15 years, I navigated the emotional loneliness, disconnection and challenges of being what many call a “WoW Widow” - married to an avid World of Warcraft gamer. Over time, I realised how much of myself I had lost in the background of someone else’s story.
After my divorce in 2018, personal development became my turning point. Main Character Mode was created to help women rebuild confidence, reconnect with their identity, and create lives filled with purpose, freedom and possibility - alongside a supportive community of women who truly understand.
