It's loyalty.
You are loyal to the version of you that felt safe. The one that knew how to survive, how to keep the peace, how to not take up too much space. That version worked hard to keep you okay. So when you try to change, it doesn't fight you because it hates you. It fights you because it's trying to protect you.
That's why the weight comes back. That's why you start strong and quietly stop. That's why you can want something with your whole chest and still walk away from it.
You are not weak. You are not lazy. You are not the problem you think you are.
You are just running two programs at once. One says grow. One says stay safe. And until those two are talking to each other, you will keep ending up back at square one.
