This is my bio. Can you tell yours Born and raised in the Philippines, Ligaya Parsons grew up in a home where education was more than a priority — it was a lifeline. Her parents believed that learning could lift their children out of poverty, and that belief became the foundation of her determination. Though her upbringing was far from perfect, the chaos around her became its own kind of classroom. It taught her resilience, grit, and the ability to endure and rise above unfavourable circumstances. At just 30 years old, Ligaya moved to New Zealand, beginning a new life 42 years ago in a country that would eventually become her home. Guided by compassion and a deep sense of purpose, she built a long and meaningful career as a nurse, caring for others with the same strength she learned to cultivate in herself. In 2018, she stepped into a new chapter of creativity and courage: she became an author. Her books, The Slingshot Guy (Books 1 and 2), published on Amazon, blend faith, imagination, and emotional depth — reflecting her own journey through adversity, hope, and spiritual resilience. Today, Ligaya lives in New Zealand with her husband and their two beloved cats. When she’s not writing, she enjoys the simple joys that keep her grounded and inspired: playing Scrabble and chess, going for walks, reading, and socialising with the warmth and humour that have always been part of her nature. Her life is a testament to what can grow from difficult beginnings — proof that resilience can be learned, hope can be chosen, and that a girl raised in the chaos of the Philippines can grow into a woman who writes stories that uplift others.
