My criteria for choosing this film were simple: the English is clearly spoken, it offers plenty of useful vocabulary, and, most importantly, it raises thought-provoking questions about ethics, power dynamics, ambition, professional boundaries, and personal responsibility. In our next session, we will explore different types of power dynamics and the ethical choices people make. This will prepare us for a deeper discussion of the movie. You have two weeks to watch it. Our movie discussion will take place on August 1. About the Story Miller’s Girl is set mainly in a Tennessee high school and Cairo’s family home. Cairo is a talented student, while Jonathan Miller is her creative-writing teacher. A writing assignment brings them closer, and their relationship becomes increasingly inappropriate.
