Understanding Fibromyalgia (In simple terms)
Fibromyalgia isn’t caused by damage to muscles or joints. It's a condition where the nervous system becomes overly sensitive, meaning it amplifies pain, fatigue, and sensory signals.
That’s why pain can feel widespread, symptoms can change day to day, rest is necessary and not laziness, doing “too much” can cause delayed flares.
Nothing about this means your pain isn’t real or that you’re weak. Your body is responding exactly how a sensitised nervous system does.
Learning this can be a relief for many people, because it shifts the focus from fixing your body to supporting and protecting it 🤍
