Where does the TAKING THINGS PERSONALLY come from?
We all used to be a young child! Children are EGOCENTRIC- take things personally. These brain neurons have been forming since birth. They are deep and strong. No wonder we take things personally. But in truth, it wasn’t about you!
Like the child who spilt milk in Daddy’s new car. “You idiot! Look what you’ve done!”
The child takes it to heart that he/she is stupid. Not worth anything. Not worthy of the father’s love and approval. Lies!
Now, as an adult, coach yourself the truth:
It’s wasn’t about me
My dad had a bad attitude
My dad placed more importance on stuff than on other people’s feelings.
A child’s mistake can be cleaned up. Not so much an UN-bearable feeling. (UBF) More later.
Be aware of your reactions this week. Jot down your reactive feelings.
Where did that come from?
What brain neuron is the source of that reaction?
Let me know.
