⚠️⚠️#Now. Hotel chains begin to abandon GAESA amid U.S. sanctions.
The main hotel chains and tourism-related companies in Cuba are reportedly formalizing their exit from Gaviota, the tourism division of GAESA, to avoid sanctions that will take effect after June 5, according to a report by the specialized outlet Preferente.
The report states that several Spanish companies, along with banks and international suppliers, are already distancing themselves from the Cuban military conglomerate in response to measures pushed by the Trump Administration.
The departure comes after Washington announced secondary sanctions against companies that maintain business with GAESA, an organization that controls a significant portion of Cuba's tourism sector and economy.
