America's Quarter Millennial
Today, a quarter millennium ago, men of British colonial origin, oppressed by the weight of royal rule, dared to claim their liberty. In their quest for solidarity, prosperity, and a life of their own making, they united in committing what the British Crown deemed treason. Their miraculous achievements against the world's greatest empire- the Declaration of Independence, the American Revolutionary War, and the Constitutional Convention- endowed to all Americans, and to all people of the world, the revolutionary promise of freedom and hope.
As we Americans enjoy the fruits of their sacrifice and witness others securing their own liberty today, let us together recall the words our intrepid Founding Fathers proclaimed 250 years ago: "We declare these Colonies Free and Independent States, and it support of this Declaration, with firm reliance on divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."
