The gap between knowing and embodying
For years I knew exactly what I wanted.
I read the books. Listened to the podcasts. I watched the Youtube videos and tried to "feel like the new version" of me. I tried to "Live in the end” as Neville Goddard talks about.
But it wasn't really working.
And it took me a while to understand why. It was due to the reason that my body didn't feel safe enough for that version of me to exist.
The mind was on board. The mind had been on board for years.
But my body wasn’t feeling safe enough for the expanded version of me. And mine was still holding on to old energies and traumas.
It was through somatic movements, breathwork and sitting still that my body slowly, over a few years started to shift into safety.
The shift wasn’t dramatic. It was gradually.
I one day just realized - I actually feel like her.
And with it came this deep trust in myself. Like this feeling of “I got it”. I finally got it!!
That's the gap between knowing and embodying. Your mind can understand something for years before your body believes it's safe enough to live it.
If you've been doing all the "right" things and still feel stuck; it might not be your mindset. Your body might just need to feel safe first.
This week's shift:
Sit in silence for 15 minutes a day. No phone. No music. No agenda. Just you and your body. Notice what comes up. Notice where you're holding on to old stuff. That's where the work is.
Drop a comment if you're in. And let me know how this works for you. I love hearing your stories.
Much love,
Neda
