Hey everybody!
First of all I'd like to welcome all new members! I didn't get into a habit making separate posts for people joining as it might be a little overwhelming seeing these on the main feed all the time, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate you checking in 😉 Thanks in advance for all your input or if you just here to check things out that's fine too.
I wanted to touch on a sensitive subject for most trades people I would say, so even if you're not an epoxy installer, it might be relatable regardless. The reason is me just recently seeing a lot of conversations about it in other groups and I want to see what your thoughts are .
📢How much to charge for your work and how to deal with underbidding competitors ⁉️
I see all the time and experienced it a lot when bidding for a job, there's always that one guy who will do it for less. How do you react to this ?
I get it, all of us are in a different situation and especially when we start out we want to grasp on every bit of work that will pay the bills. But have you had that job yet, when at the end of it all you say to yourself this just wasn't worth it ? 🥸
We can blow up this conversation, since there's so many different angles we can look at this. My take is that lack of systems usually let our minds wonder a lot and we start overthinking if we should have charged more or bid less to get a job. Almost all of it is a mind game that our brain is playing with us.
If anyone has ever tried trading, this reminds me of that a lot. When you look at the graphs and trying to predict whether the price is going up or down , without a system in place it's just gambling, but those few that are successful at it have systems in place that eliminate that human factor out of it and when in doubt, you don't have to guess, you just follow the guidelines you previously set up for yourself and then just deal with the result afterwards. Good outcome - positive checkmark, bad outcome - put it in the investigation box and see why the outcome wasn't to your liking. It might sound esoteric, but what do you think?
Which side are you on?
