The secret to groove...
Time keeping, and especially counting out loud, are not discussed enough.
We always think drummers are born with groove and a sense of feel or they are not...and it not true.
Spend time with your metronome practicing your favourite grooves at different tempos then usually play it at.
Even better...try using a gap click so that you have accountability with your time keeping.
