🧼 I’ll go first… Quest 1 completed!
My lemon and peppermint soap is out of the moulds and officially on the curing shelf! 🙌 There’s something so satisfying about looking at those little bars and thinking, “I made that.” Now comes the patience part—waiting for them to finish curing before using them. 😅 Your turn! Where are you with Quest 1? 🌱 Still watching and learning ⚖️ Gathering ingredients 🧼 Made my first batch! Share a photo or tell us where you’re at—even if it’s just your supplies on the kitchen table. And if something has you stuck, ask. That’s what this community is here for. Less scrolling. More doing. One useful skill at a time. 💛

WHAT’S THE ONE THING YOU KEEP SAYING YOU SHOULD LEARN? 🤔
We all have one… “I really should learn how to sew that back on.” “I should probably know how to grow this.” “One day, I’m going to learn how to fix that myself.” Today, I want you to think about the small, practical skill you’ve been putting off—not because it’s impossible, but because you’ve simply never made the time to try it. That is exactly what the Weirdly Useful Things Club is about: turning “one day” into “I did it!” 👇 Tell us in the comments: What is one weirdly useful thing you’ve always wanted to learn? Your answer might even inspire one of our future challenges! Less scrolling. More doing. 🛠️🌱
Welcome to the Weirdly Useful Things Club 👋
This club started with one simple thought: We spend a lot of time beside the people we love… without actually doing much together. One person is scrolling. Someone else is watching TV. The kids are on another screen. So this is our little experiment in changing that. Every week, we’re going to learn one simple, low-cost, weirdly useful thing. Some weeks we’ll make something. Some weeks we’ll fix something. Some weeks we’ll cook, grow, preserve, mend or learn a skill we probably should have known years ago. You can do the challenge by yourself, with your partner, with your kids, with a friend — whoever you want to pull into it. And there is absolutely no pressure to be good at it. If it turns out perfectly, share it. If it turns into a complete disaster, definitely share it. 😂 That’s part of the fun. Over the next 52 weeks, I hope this becomes more than a list of skills. I hope we make things. I hope we laugh. I hope we get curious again. I hope we make memories with the people around us. And I hope that a year from now we can look back and say: “Wow… I actually know how to do that now.” So before we start, introduce yourself below and tell us: Who are you hoping to drag into these challenges with you? 👀 Less scrolling. More doing. More together. -James & Alrina
🧵 What have you been meaning to try?
I want this community to help us turn “I’d love to do that one day” into “Look what I made!” So, let’s get to know the curious people behind the profile pictures. 😊 Introduce yourself in the comments and tell us: 🌍 Where are you joining from? 🛠️ What’s one thing you’d love to learn to make, grow or fix? ✨ What’s something you already enjoy doing with your hands? Maybe you want to dye a cotton tea towel using onion skins, mend your favourite jeans or turn an old T-shirt into a useful basket. And if someone mentions something you’d love to try too, let them know! Your first step here doesn’t need to be a finished project. A hello is a lovely place to begin. Less scrolling, more doing, starting with a little conversation.

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to know how to do? 👀
Not something huge. Just one of those little things you’ve thought: “I really should learn how to do that one day.” Maybe it’s: 🍞 Bake bread properly 🧵 Mend clothes 🌱 Grow herbs 🫙 Preserve food 🛠 Fix something around the house 🕯 Make candles 🥛 Make butter or yoghurt 🪢 Tie useful knots 🔥 Cook over a fire 🎨 Make something with your hands That’s exactly what this group is about. Not sitting and watching another tutorial we’ll forget about tomorrow. Actually trying it. Actually learning it. And, whenever possible, doing it with someone we care about. Less scrolling. More doing. More together. So tell me below: 👇 What’s one weirdly useful thing you’d love us to learn in this group?
