This AI voice agent costs 10x cheaper than Vapi , retell, elevenlabs and ultravox.
At 2 AM today, I successfully built and deployed a multilingual AI voice agent capable of answering real phone calls in real time.
What makes this exciting is not just the technology itself, but the cost efficiency behind it.
Instead of relying entirely on expensive voice AI platforms, I built the infrastructure using:
• LiveKit
• OpenAI
• Deepgram
• custom deployment workflows
The system can:
• handle real-time conversations
• support multiple languages
• operate as an AI receptionist
• run continuously in the cloud
• integrate with SIP calling infrastructure
A few months ago, I barely understood how APIs and realtime systems worked.
Now I’m building production-level AI systems from scratch.
This space is moving incredibly fast, and I genuinely believe the biggest opportunity is not just using AI tools — but learning how to build the systems underneath them.
