Instead of another AI chatbot or automation, I'm building a Robotics Inventory Tracker for our school's robotics club.
The goal is simple:
๐ฆ Track robotics kits with QR codes
๐ Instantly view every component in a kit
โ
Mark kits as Complete or Ongoing
โ ๏ธ Report missing parts in seconds
๐ Give officers a dashboard to monitor inventory
What's been fun is using AI as a development partner instead of just a code generator.
My workflow has been:
- Claude for architecture and feature implementation
- AI for UI/UX iteration and design feedback
- Vibe coding the frontend while focusing on user experience
- Rapid prototyping instead of spending hours planning every screen
One thing I've realized is that good AI-assisted development isn't about writing prompts that generate an entire appโit's about continuously refining, testing, and improving each iteration.
The screenshot below is the latest version of the dashboard. It's still a work in progress, but it's already a huge improvement over the first design.
My next goals:
- ๐ฑ Polish the mobile experience
- ๐ฅ Create a product demo video
- ๐ Add analytics and inventory history
- ๐ Real-time notifications for missing parts
- ๐จ More polished micro-interactions and animations
Curiousโwhat's everyone else building with AI right now? Any features you'd add to an inventory system like this?
