This is a calm, supportive space for parents of KS2 children (Years 3–6 - 8 to 11 year olds) who want to help with maths at home — without pressure, panic, or turning into the teacher.
Many parents tell me the same things:
- “Maths looks completely different now.”
- “I don’t want to confuse them.”
- “Homework ends in tears — for both of us.”
- “I just want to know I’m helping, not making it worse.”
If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
The aim is simple: to lower the temperature around maths.
Each week, you’ll see:
- one short explanation of a key maths idea
- simple prompts for what to say and ask at home
- an optional, low-pressure activity you can try if it helps
- a weekly drop in where you can ask any niggling questions to support you and your child at home.
Nothing is compulsory! There’s no catching up. You can use what’s useful and ignore the rest.
There’s also space to ask questions if your child is stuck — with responses focused on how to explain, not just what the answer is.
