Myth: "If I pay off a collection, my credit score will automatically shoot up."
Truth: Not always. Actually not unless you get a "pay for delete" directly sent to your email. Never trust these 3rd party debt collectors.
A paid collection can still remain on your credit report unless it's removed. Every credit profile is different, which is why having the right strategy matters.
