🇩🇰 CO₂ rules in building: Denmark vs. Germany vs. USA
In Denmark, every new building must meet a COâ‚‚ limit (LCA):
  • 2023 → 12 kg COâ‚‚e/m²/year
  • 2025 → 7.1 kg COâ‚‚e/m²/year
👉 This is one of the strictest building rules in the world.
For comparison:
  • Germany is only now planning a limit (around 12–15, not fully in force).
  • USA has no national limit (some states, like California, do).
Lower number = stricter requirement. That means in Denmark we are forced to design with extremely low CO₂ – but it also removes a lot of freedom for creative, bold architecture.
Question for you:👉 What are the consequences in your country?Do CO₂ rules push smarter solutions, or do they kill design freedom?
