We are coming into days that we need to behold. We are coming into a deeper understanding of the new covenant and what it means to belong to God. God is not distant from us. He is our covenant God, and He presents Himself as a Husband who remains faithful to His people. What happened in the generations before us does not have to continue through us. We have inherited the consequences of many things our ancestors failed to do, but God is not holding their failures against us or denying us the opportunity to know Him for ourselves. He is bringing us closer. He is writing His ways upon our hearts. He is teaching us to recognize Him, understand Him, and walk with Him personally. We will not merely know what others have told us about God—we will know Him for ourselves. This is the mercy of the new covenant: God is forgiving sin, healing what has been broken, and restoring His people to Himself. There is much more here concerning the gates, the boundaries, and what God is rebuilding—but we do not have to go into all of that today. For now, behold this: God is drawing His people closer. He will be our God, we will be His people, and we will know Him.
