On Thursday, Raphaël posted our double video, together with my score: my transcription of Armando’s Rhumba by Chick Corea, including Jean-Luc Ponty’s solo, which I transcribed entirely by ear.
Meanwhile: more than 17000 views, 599 likes, 34 shares and 70 saves.😅😍
It was really nice that Raphaël wrote to me and asked if he could create a chop accompaniment for it. 🌞🌞🌞
For this transcription, I also added bowings and ghost-note bowings that really work in this fast tempo, while keeping the jazz sound alive.
The theme is transcribed as well. I noticed that the rhythm is very often played differently, but Jean-Luc Ponty really plays it the way I play it here and the way I wrote it down.
For me, transcribing remains one of the essential tools in jazz to expand your vocabulary: listening, searching, writing down, correcting, listening again… and really getting inside the language of a musician. 🙂🎻
See you on the 13th of july to work further on the violin technic of this solo.
