Harvey Thompson’s Jazz Listening Room
December 23, 2025 (Tokyo, Japan) - This is a community for people who enjoy jazz music. It’s centered on old-school vocal jazz in the lineage of Johnny Hartman with tone, phrasing, restraint, and meaning over flash. This is like a listening room, or an intimate jazz club, not a hype room. You don’t need to be a musician, but you do need to listen with intention. It's like a space for tone, phrasing, and lyric meaning, rooted in deep listening to ballads, the lived culture of jazz, and Tokyo as a city that still understands the music sung by jazz singer Harvey Thompson from Detroit who now lives in Tokyo sharing his artistry. Johnny Hartman recorded the ballad "By Myself," and jazz singer Harvey Thompson carries that same lineage forward, singing this song with the same focus on tone, phrasing, and emotional restraint.
