March 9, 2026 (Tokyo, Japan) - Here is a rare live performance from jazz vocalist Harvey Thompson recorded at the New Mexico State University Southwest Jazz Festival in 1992. The recording, transferred from the original cassette, features Thompson performing with pianist Bill Gaff, bassist Dan Gallardi, drummer Mike Matthews, and a saxophonist who may be Mark Lohman or Mark Holman.
This live recording captures the energy and spontaneity of a working jazz ensemble performing at a regional festival in the early 1990s. Unrelated to the singing in the link below but the image is of Harvey along with John McLaughlin Williams, the acclaimed African American violinist, conductor and composer and a four-time Grammy nominee.
