Jazz is a language — one we learn by immersing ourselves in it, speaking it, and absorbing the lines of the great masters. This Jazz Line Lab is where I share that journey with you: step by step, line by line, sound by sound. A long path, a fascinating one — and always a beautiful one.
In this space I bring together everything that forms the core of my jazz practice: transcription, analysis, bowings, fingerings, articulation, sound, rhythm, and the study of each lick in all 12 keys. It’s a living library that grows with every lesson, every discovery, every new phrase.
My approach is simple and honest: I learn from the masters — by listening deeply on YouTube and Spotify, by attending concerts, and by transcribing the solos that truly speak to me. From each transcription, I extract the most powerful lines, internalise them, and rebuild them on the violin through technique, clarity and musical intention.
In this process I help you with the same tools I rely on myself: natural bowings, clean fingerings, left- and right-hand balance, expressive timing, and a step-by-step approach that makes even the most complex lick accessible.
This is the essence of the Jazz Line Lab. A place where technique and imagination meet the freedom of improvisation.
🎻 About Me
As a first violin/second soloist at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen with a deep and lifelong passion for jazz, my musical path flows naturally between two worlds: the refinement of classical tradition and the freedom of improvisation.
In 2024 I completed my Bachelor in Jazz Violin, and I continue my studies with Eva Slongo and Tim Kliphuis — two violinists whose openness and vision inspire me profoundly. Through their academies I have connected with many of today’s active jazz violinists, learning from every exchange.
My classical and jazz background in harmony — one of my favourite subjects ever — allows me to analyse and notate each solo with precision: bowings, fingerings, articulations and the colours that are specific to the violin.
Playing an entire solo is enriching, but the deeper purpose of transcribing goes further. From every solo I absorb the strongest ideas, practise them in all 12 keys, and allow the language to settle until it becomes part of my own voice.
Jazz grows through the lines we absorb — and through the lines we create.

Le jazz est une langue — une langue que l’on apprend en s’y plongeant, en la parlant, et en absorbant les lignes des grands maîtres. Ce Jazz Line Lab est l’endroit où je partage ce voyage avec vous : pas à pas, ligne après ligne, son après son. Un chemin long, passionnant — et toujours magnifique.
Dans cet espace, je rassemble tout ce qui constitue le cœur de ma pratique jazz : transcription, analyse, coups d’archet, doigtés, articulation, son, rythme, et le travail de chaque lick dans les 12 tonalités. Une bibliothèque vivante qui grandit à chaque cours, chaque découverte, chaque nouvelle phrase.
Mon approche est simple et sincère : j’apprends auprès des maîtres — en écoutant profondément sur YouTube et Spotify, en assistant à leurs concerts, et en transcrivant les solos qui me parlent vraiment. De chaque transcription, j’extrais les lignes les plus fortes, je les intériorise, et je les reconstruis au violon à travers la technique, la clarté et l’intention musicale.
Dans ce processus, je vous aide avec les mêmes outils que j’utilise moi-même : des coups d’archet naturels, des doigtés précis, un équilibre main gauche–main droite, un timing expressif, et une approche progressive qui rend chaque lick accessible, même les plus complexes.
C’est cela, l’essence du Jazz Line Lab : un lieu où la technique et l’imagination rencontrent la liberté de l’improvisation.
🎻 À propos de moi
En tant que première violoniste/deuxième soliste à l’Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, avec une passion profonde et constante pour le jazz, mon parcours musical circule naturellement entre deux mondes : le raffinement de la tradition classique et la liberté de l’improvisation.
En 2024, j’ai terminé mon Bachelier en violon jazz, et je poursuis mes études avec Eva Slongo et Tim Kliphuis — deux violonistes dont l’ouverture et la vision m’inspirent profondément. Grâce à leurs académies, j’ai pu échanger avec de nombreux violonistes de jazz actifs aujourd’hui, apprenant de chaque rencontre.
Ma formation en harmonie, classique et jazz — l’une de mes matières préférées — me permet d’analyser et de noter chaque solo avec précision : coups d’archet, doigtés, articulations et couleurs propres au violon.
Jouer un solo entier est enrichissant, mais le véritable objectif de la transcription va plus loin. De chaque solo, j’extrais les idées les plus fortes, je les travaille dans les 12 tonalités, et je laisse la langue s’installer jusqu’à ce qu’elle devienne une partie de ma propre voix.
Le jazz grandit à travers les lignes que nous absorbons — et à travers celles que nous créons.

Jazz is een taal — een taal die je leert door erin te duiken, ze te spreken en de lijnen van de grote meesters in je op te nemen. Dit Jazz Line Lab is de plek waar ik die reis met jullie deel: stap voor stap, lijn per lijn, klank per klank. Een lange weg, een boeiende weg — en vooral een prachtige weg.
In deze ruimte breng ik alles samen wat de kern vormt van mijn jazzpraktijk: transcriberen, analyseren, strijktechniek, vingerzettingen, articulatie, klank, ritme, en het oefenen van elke lick in alle 12 toonaarden. Een levende bibliotheek die groeit bij elke les, elke ontdekking en elke nieuwe frase.
Mijn aanpak is eenvoudig en oprecht: ik studeer bij de grote meesters — door intensief luisteren op YouTube en Spotify, door concerten bij te wonen en door de solos te transcriberen die mij echt raken. Uit elke transcriptie haal ik de krachtigste lijnen, ik internaliseer ze, en bouw ze opnieuw op de viool op via techniek, helderheid en muzikale intentie.
In dat proces help ik jou met dezelfde tools die ik zelf gebruik: natuurlijke strijkbewegingen, heldere vingerzettingen, balans tussen linker- en rechterhand, expressieve timing en een stapsgewijze aanpak die elke lick toegankelijk maakt, zelfs de meest complexe.
Dat is de essentie van het Jazz Line Lab: een plek waar techniek en verbeelding de vrijheid van improvisatie ontmoeten.
🎻 Over mij
Als eerste violist/tweede solist bij Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, met een diepe en levenslange passie voor jazz, beweegt mijn muzikale pad zich vanzelfsprekend tussen twee werelden: de verfijning van de klassieke traditie en de vrijheid van improvisatie.
In 2024 behaalde ik mijn Bachelor Jazzviool, en ik zet mijn studies verder bij Eva Slongo en Tim Kliphuis — twee violisten wiens openheid en visie mij sterk inspireren. Via hun academies kwam ik in contact met veel van de actieve jazzviolisten van vandaag, en leerde ik van elke uitwisseling.
Mijn achtergrond in klassieke en jazzharmonie — een van mijn favoriete vakken ooit — geeft me de mogelijkheid om elke solo diepgaand te analyseren en precies te noteren: strijkbewegingen, vingerzettingen, articulatie en de kleuren die specifiek zijn voor de viool.
Een volledig solo spelen is fascinerend en verrijkend, maar het echte doel van transcriberen gaat verder. Uit elke solo destilleer ik de meest krachtige ideeën, oefen ik ze in alle 12 toonaarden en laat ik de taal zich nestelen tot ze deel wordt van mijn eigen stem.
Jazz groeit door de jazzlicks die we in ons opnemen en door de jazzlijnen die we hiermee creëren om uiteindelijke onze eigen jazzlijnen vlot te improviseren.
