For our next Ocha & Chat, we’ll practise asking about types of things, especially food.
The key word today is:
どんな donna = what kind of…?
🧠 Mini Lesson: どんな
どんな donna is used before a noun to ask about type or kind.
Pattern:
どんな + Noun + が好きですか。
donna + noun + ga suki desu ka?
✏️ Key Example
どんな食べ物が好きですか。Donna tabemono ga suki desu ka?→ What kind of food do you like?
🗣️ Example Answers
- 日本の食べ物が好きです。Nihon no tabemono ga suki desu.I like Japanese food.
- 辛い食べ物が好きです。Karai tabemono ga suki desu.I like spicy food.
- 甘い食べ物が好きです。Amai tabemono ga suki desu.I like sweet food.
🗣️ Example Dialogue ①
A: どんな食べ物が好きですか。Donna tabemono ga suki desu ka?
B: ラーメンが好きです。Rāmen ga suki desu.
🗣️ Example Dialogue ②
A: どんな料理が好きですか。Donna ryōri ga suki desu ka?
B: 日本料理が好きです。Nihon ryōri ga suki desu.

- 食べ物（たべもの）tabemono – food
- 料理（りょうり）ryōri – cuisine
- 甘い（あまい）amai – sweet
- 辛い（からい）karai – spicy
- 日本料理（にほんりょうり）nihon ryōri – Japanese food
🫵 Your Practice (Before the Call)
Try writing one question and one answer:
- どんな＿＿＿が好きですか。Donna ___ ga suki desu ka?
- ＿＿＿が好きです。___ ga suki desu.
Example:
どんな食べ物が好きですか。ラーメンが好きです。
