The Close Read is a community for students and families who take writing seriously, whether the goal is acing humanities coursework, standing out in college admissions, or simply learning to think and write with real clarity.
It is run by Yousef Zalabany, a Princeton graduate with six years of experience coaching students at selective schools in the US and the Middle East. Every student he has worked with on college essays has been admitted to at least one of their top five choices.
Inside, you will find weekly live workshops on the craft of writing, argument, and voice, alongside resources drawn from real coaching work. The approach is built on one idea: in an age where AI can produce a passable draft in seconds, the students who can think and argue independently are the ones who stand out. That skill is not an inherent talent and can be systematically taught.
