[WEEK 1 — R: READINESS] DAY 7 — Environment Red Flags
A hard truth: Any coach who guarantees scholarships is selling hope — not development. Other red flags include: - No accountability - No teaching - No standards - Blaming refs, players, or parents constantly Recruiting thrives in truth, not promises. 🎯 10-Minute Action Step List: - One green flag in your child’s environment - One red flag you’ve noticed Awareness is the first step to better decisions.

[WEEK 1 — R: READINESS] DAY 6 — Coaching & Culture
Playing time does not equal development. Standards do. A strong culture teaches: - Discipline - Communication - Responsibility - Emotional control Great coaches care about who players are becoming — not just what they produce. Parents should evaluate culture, not just minutes. 🎯 10-Minute Action Step Write one sentence: “This environment is teaching my child __________ beyond basketball.” If nothing comes to mind, that’s valuable information.

[WEEK 1 — R: READINESS] DAY 5 — Environment Matters
Every year, great players get stuck — not because of effort, but because of environment. An environment should: - Develop skills - Teach accountability - Stretch comfort levels - Match the athlete’s stage of growth Not every environment is bad — but not every environment is right right now. Showcasing without development creates false confidence. Development without clarity creates confusion. 🎯 10-Minute Action Step Ask one honest question: “Is this environment growing my child — or just displaying them?” Write the answer privately. This is information, not criticism.

[WEEK 1 — R: READINESS] DAY 4 — Academic & Habit Check
Recruiting can end instantly without academics and habits. College coaches don’t want surprises. They want reliability. Strong habits include: - Showing up early - Being prepared - Managing school responsibly - Taking correction without excuses A player who is talented but unreliable is a risk. And college coaches don’t recruit risk. 🎯 10-Minute Action Step Answer yes or no (no explaining): - On track academically? - Consistent attendance? - Takes coaching without attitude? These answers help parents support development before problems show up.
