GAME CHANGER! - "Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglas

Hey gang! First of all I want to thank Kyle and Ryan for this amazing community they've set up for us. I've really enjoyed reading all your stories about your trading adventures (and misadventures lol)

I've been trading for a few weeks now and, like many of you, I've had some ups and downs. I felt euphoric when I won but after a string of losses I felt myself becoming more dejected and disengaged. This is when I realized that my mindset was becoming an issue and holding me back.

I went around researching and another trader recommended the book "Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglas. I must say this book has been a game-changer for me and totally "fixed" my mindset. Basically the book explains that the outcome of any trade is unique and that no one can predict what the market does, therefore your mindset must be based around the idea that you can't control the outcome of any one trade. You can only use your best insight to find the most high probability trade and trust in that. Everything after that is out of your control, therefore there's no reason to feel good or bad about the outcome of any one trade. And once you understand this you can start thinking more in the realm of probabilities instead of winning or losing any given trade.

The goal of the book is to take all the high emotions out of trading and help you "trade in the zone." I read it and it's helped me immensely so I wanted to recommend it to you guys as well. I think it's a good companion to the curriculum that Kyle laid out about mindset.

Also another tip - Since reading this book I've stopped using the terms "win" or "lose" to describe my trades and instead use the terms "did the trade 'work' or not." Using the terms winner and loser attaches an emotional tag to your trades and can often make you feel like a "loser" which will weaken your mindset.
