After living in a relationship that was 70% abuse and maybe 30% love… if that… eventually my mind, my body, and my bank account couldn’t survive it anymore.
For four years I lived in survival mode. Walking on eggshells. Questioning my reality. Losing pieces of myself trying to keep somebody else happy while slowly drowning in the process.
Domestic violence doesn’t always look like bruises. Sometimes it looks like confusion. Debt. Isolation. Fear. Panic attacks. Courtrooms. Silence. Losing who you used to be.
After I finally found the courage to leave, I thought the hardest part was over. It wasn’t. Because nobody really prepares you for the next chapter of domestic violence — post-separation abuse. The part where the relationship ends… but the control doesn’t.
